How to choose a good mechanic.
With so many mechanics to choose from, making the decision to hand your car over can be tricky, and with todays economy, value for money car services are a definite ‘must have’.
Follow these tips to help you make the right choice when choosing a mechanic.
1. Always choose a qualified and experienced mechanic.
A trusted auto-mechanic should have the best training and qualifications, and a good background of automotive knowledge. If training and credentials are not clearly dislayed or advertised, don’t be afraid to ask about their background and experience.
All Repco Authorised Service Centres participate in our Autotech training program, Repco Auto-Tech is an advanced training and technical information service for the automotive professional. Auto-Tech training clinics are held nationwide and conducted by the best industry experts.
2. Does your mechanic offer a warranty on their work?
The best mechanics will happily guarantee their work , knowing that the service they have performed on your car is of the highest quality and standard and that the parts they have used are from a reputable brand.
All Repco Authorised service Centres are backed by the Repco Authorised Service Nation Wide Warranty which covers defects in materials or workmanship for 12 months or 20,000km whichever comes first and with around 350 Repco Authorised Service Dealers Australia wide, there’s few places around this country where you won’t find one of our Dealers within easy reach.
3. Look for Referrals
Ask around your family and friends if they have a mechanic or workshop they like to use. People will always be happy to tell you about a bad service but forget to mention the fast and trustworthy mechanic they’ve been visiting for years – unless you ask that is.
The Repco brand is synonymous with trust, experience and knowledge and we receive hundreds of customer testimonials to support this. Visit testimonials if you would like to read just a few.
4. Will they be upfront and honest?
The cost of repairs is sometimes hard enough, without the added stress of unexpected costs when its time to pick up your vehicle. Make sure your mechanic is willing to advise you of the estimated costs upfront and consult you before doing anything more than the work you originally requested.
At Repco Authorised Service Centres we explain all of our work in a straight forward manner, making sure you understand upfront what work your car needs, why your car needs it and how we will perform it. We always consult you if there is any extra work that may be needed.
5. Do they care about your safety?
A good mechanic will look out for and advise you of any issue which may pose a threat to your safety, either now or in the future. Can your mechanic provide you with a written comprehensive safety check to ensure that you and your family are safe?
Upon Request, your local Repco Authorised Service mechanic will happily provide a written 62 Point Safety Report whenever a service is carried out. This report is designed to identify issues on your vehicle that could become a major safety problem before it impacts on you and your family.
